In a conversation with RT in Russian, the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, Valery Ryazansky, criticized the idea of ??introducing a low-income tax. He noted that such a proposal is not viable, the number of children is a private matter for each family.

Ryazansky said: "For our demographic situation this measure will be excessively prohibitive, it is not needed. We do not have problems of this kind, we survived in due time such a tax on childlessness. I do not believe that we will introduce this tax. I believe that this is not a pass-through initiative, because more support for families is carried out on a motivational basis, rather than the beginnings of punishment. In general, it is the family's business - how many to have children ".

The senator also stressed that it is necessary to concentrate on supporting large families, and not on infringement of the rights of childless couples. He added that if the bill does come to light, the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy will oppose it..

Ryazansky stressed: "Only the legislature can introduce a tax, I work in it. I will object to this kind of initiative ".

"Izvestia" earlier reported that in Russia they proposed to introduce a tax on small children. It is noted that the relevant paragraph is contained in the concept of the federal law "On the Status of Large Families", sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
