In an interview with Bild, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that he was trying to contact German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel on the phone after canceling the meeting with him, RT reports in Russian.
Spiegel quotes Netanyahu: "My principle is simple: I do not accept diplomats from other countries who, when they come to Israel, meet with organizations that call Israeli soldiers war criminals".
He also noted that the Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany refused to discharge the current situation.
The Israeli Prime Minister explained:
"I wanted to call Gabriel to voice my position and smooth the situation, but he turned down my call".
Benjamin Netanyahu expressed the hope that he will be able to meet with Gabriel, as well as the fact that the relations between the two countries will remain "extremely strong".
As previously reported, on April 25, the Israeli Prime Minister canceled the meeting with the Foreign Minister of Germany because the German politician met with the Israeli human rights organization.
