"RT in Russian" reports that talks began in Moscow between Lavrov and Magerini. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with the EU representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Federico Mogerini, called for concentrating on general real threats, rather than on fictional security risks.

Lavrov said: "I express gratitude to the EU foreign policy service for condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg. This inhuman act is on par with other terrorist crimes that have covered other European cities. Therefore, the need to concentrate on our common real threats, and not on fictitious security risks, is visible ".

The Russian Foreign Minister also said that Moscow is interested in restoring cooperation with the EU.

Lavrov added: "We continue to focus on restoring full-fledged cooperation with the European Union, our largest trade and economic partner".

At the same time, the representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogerini, stated at a news conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow that Russia and the EU can not be considered strategic partners in the conditions of maintaining sanctions, RT reports in Russian.

Megerini said: "It would be unrealistic to call each other strategic partners and still maintain sanctions. Partners do not usually work that way. ".

At the same time she stressed that for many years Russia and the EU were strategic partners.

The EU representative also noted that the EU sanctions "are not a goal in themselves", that the aim of the EU sanctions is aimed at the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federico Mogherini. The diplomats discussed issues related to the fight against terrorism, the settlement of the conflict in Syria, as well as the relations between Russia and the European Union.
