Pence and Abe discussed the situation around the DPRK

"Vesti" report that US Vice President Michael Pence, who arrived in Japan, met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Pence stressed that "the US-Japan alliance is the cornerstone of peace in Northeast Asia". He also repeated the words of President Donald Trump that "the US is 100% with Japan".

Michael Pence, referring to the situation around the DPRK, recalled the principle of "achieving peace by force".

Visiting the day before South Korea, the vice president said that "strategic patience" came to an end, and the US authorities "always sought peace through force".

The Japanese prime minister, in turn, expressed support for the position of the United States. Abe added that it is important to exert pressure on North Korea, "so that it seriously approaches dialogue".

Earlier it became known that Michael Pence began his first foreign policy tour. He will visit the key countries of the Asia-Pacific region for the United States: South Korea, Japan and Indonesia.
