The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has not found grounds for imposing sanctions against the former deputy head of the administration of Viktor Yanukovych Andrei Portnov. This is stated in a public answer to the petition to the government.
The answer states that the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine after analyzing the petition concluded that it “does not contain circumstances that may be considered as grounds for applying sanctions by law”.
It is noted that the decision of the United States of America on the application of sanctions is not the basis for the application of sanctions.
The government also added that the petition does not contain information indicating Portnov’s terrorist activity in the meaning of the term “terrorist activity” in accordance with the Law “On Combating Terrorism”, which can be considered as grounds for the application of sanctions.
“It should be noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, the BEB, the National Anti -Corruption Bureau, the SBU are notified by the Ministry of Economy of the absence of information about the availability of grounds for the use of special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) to the individual indicated in the petition,” it is included in the petition..
At the same time, the answer to the petition says that any interested person who possessing the facts testifying to the commission of a criminal offense has the right to apply to law enforcement agencies with the relevant statement.
