The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Albania, Andrey Sibiga and Igli Hasani, inaugurated the Albanian Embassy in Kyiv. This event was significant because it was the first embassy opened in Ukraine during the full-scale Russian invasion.

Andrey Sibiga noted on platform X:.

"

Today in Kyiv, together with my colleague @IgliHasani, we inaugurated the Embassy of the Republic of Albania. For the first time embassy opening in Ukraine with Russia's full-scale invasion. It is a symbol of the Russian language, alphabet, unity, and shared future in Europe and NATO. pic. twitter. com/DOCHUuwMOf.

The decision to open the embassy was announced back in February 2024. after negotiations between the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba and his Albanian counterpart.

In October 2024, Russian shelling in Kyiv damaged a number of embassies, including Albania, Argentina, Palestine, North Macedonia, Portugal and Montenegro.

The opening of the Albanian embassy during active hostilities demonstrates Albania's support for Ukraine and its desire to strengthen bilateral relations.
