Alexander Lukashenko breathed new life into the Kremlin's information operation on Transnistria, writes the Institute for War Research. He stated that the opening of the Transnistrian front would be in the interests of the West.

Lukashenko argued that Ukraine would suffer heavy losses if it opened a second front of the war, but the West seeks to defeat both Russia and its occupied Transnistria and bring Moldova closer to the West.

Lukashenka's statements confirm the Kremlin's broader information operation that paints Russia as at war with the West, not Ukraine. Lukashenko supplemented Russian government statements warning of a possible Ukrainian provocation on the Ukrainian-Transdniestrian border by adding an unsubstantiated claim that the West wants conflict in Moldova.

Recall that the situation in this region is not the first day in the focus of attention of ISW experts. They suggest that the Kremlin is really preparing a false flag operation in Transnistria.

Opinions are sometimes heard among the Ukrainian veterans about the expediency of resolving the Transnistrian issue in order to remove the direct influence of the Kremlin from the region. They have been talking about a possible offensive from there to the Odessa region for a long time.. However, they usually agree that the scenario of interference from Kyiv is possible only if there is a corresponding request from Moldova.. The other day we wrote why the Kremlin stepped up the narrative about Kyiv's attack on Transnistria.
