President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a proposal to the Verkhovna Rada on the appointment of Vasily Malyuk as head of the Security Service of Ukraine. The corresponding draft resolution No. 8425 was registered in Parliament on Monday, February 6.

Vasily Malyuk has been acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine since July after the removal of Ivan Bakanov from his post.

According to media reports, today the Servant of the People mono-majority faction plans to hold a meeting on Monday to hear candidates for the positions of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko and head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk.

Vasily Malyuk has been working in security agencies since 2001.

In January 2020, Malyuk moved to the Central Directorate of the Security Service, where he assumed the position of First Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime, and already in March of the same year, Malyuk was appointed First Deputy Chairman of the SBU - Head of the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption.



However, in July 2021, President Volodymyr Zelensky fired Malysh from the above position..

A week before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Vasily Malyuk returned to law enforcement and became Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky. After the full-scale Russian invasion in March 2022, he moved to work in the SBU - for the second time he became the deputy head of the special services.

Acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine since July.
