The document presented today in Kyiv with recommendations on future security guarantees for Ukraine, which should become the basis of the document called the “Kyiv Security Treaty”, still needs to be ratified by the parliaments of the countries that will act as its guarantors, Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak said during the presentation.

“Today, not a single treaty, including the NATO charter, provides for non-consultation actions in the event of aggression. Therefore, of course, the text of the agreement will provide for specific deadlines for specific actions, but in order for a specific agreement to be ratified by parliaments, for example, the G7, it is impossible to provide for the imposition of clear sanctions. It is necessary to find a wording that would not close the possibility of ratification,” he said..

Today in Kyiv, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen presented recommendations on security guarantees for Ukraine. The document will unite the main group of allied countries of Ukraine, which may include the United States, Great Britain, Canada, Poland, Italy, Germany, France, Australia, Turkey, as well as the countries of Northern and Eastern Europe.

The document provides for a multi-level approach to guarantees that should prevent future encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
