An informal meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of European countries is gathering in the capital of the Czech Republic. On the agenda is the issue of a ban on the issuance of visas to citizens of the Russian Federation to enter the EU. The upcoming meeting was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics, on his Twitter.

The head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry wrote that he was already going to Prague and was ready, together with like-minded people, to defend the decision to ban Russian passport holders from entering the European Union. According to Edgars Rinkevics, such a step is necessary not only to once again condemn the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, but also for reasons of their own security..

Before the wind start to #Prague for informal EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, we need to discuss and decide on #visaban for Russian citizens on ongoing #Russia's aggression against #Ukraine and security reasons.

Whether a corresponding decision will really be made, there are doubts, because among the EU countries there is no unanimity on this issue.. And Germany has already stated that the country is not ready to completely ban the entry of Russian citizens.

However, the abolition of the simplified visa regime for holders of Russian passports may still happen..
