“In addition to the text traditional for draft laws, there will be a table of compliance with the provisions of EU directives and regulations. This will be the first experience, but constant practice,” Stefanchuk explained..

At the same time, today, August 29, 34 people's deputies, mostly representatives of opposition factions, appealed to the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada with a call to remove the bill from the next plenary session.

In their opinion, the committee should once again consider and " The opposition argues that if adopted, the law “will destroy the mechanisms for protecting the Ukrainian language and the national cultural and information space already provided for by the current laws”.

The adoption of media legislation, taking into account the requirements of Directive No. 1808/2018/EU, streamlines Ukrainian legislation in accordance with the recommendations of Council of Europe experts and brings it closer to the legal framework of the European Union, which is one of Ukraine's obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU.
