Every Ukrainian will have to sacrifice part of his comfort, part of his usual life for the sake of the security of his country - the way it used to be will no longer be, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov writes in a column for the UP.
“The Military Security Strategy of Ukraine, as a basic postulate, contains the principle of comprehensive defense, which directly provides for the use of the entire potential of the state and society to repel aggression. It was written in the documents, but to be honest, it was perceived by many as a certain abstraction.. After February 24, 2022, many more people realized that everything had changed. If we really want to keep our country in such a neighborhood, we need to be constantly ready for total defense.. Which will be a matter not only for professional military personnel, but for all citizens,"
According to Reznikov, the task of the state is to deploy a system of norms and mechanisms that will ensure the training of citizens and their participation in comprehensive defense..
“For example, in 6 months we have experience of participating in the military operations of the units of the Troop Forces. Conclusions have already been drawn from this experience. On the agenda is the rationing of the circulation of weapons, the formation of a shooting culture. Building shelters are now a real necessity. There will be changes in the medical infrastructure, education (both in content and form). The presence of military training should become one of the mandatory requirements for working in the public service, as well as for running for elected positions in local governments, parliament, courts, etc.. Reznikov emphasizes that all areas should be analyzed through the prism of the need to be ready for defense..
“You can apply the term “smart militarization” to these processes.. After all, " It is important not to lose the essence,"
Bringing the aggressor to justice and not only morally, but also with compensation for the damage caused is the main goal of a powerful offensive on the legal front.. And it has already been deployed by Ukraine: both government agencies and numerous non-governmental initiatives. Read more about this in the article by Alexander Vodyannikov "
