British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons expressed her congratulations to the people of Ukraine on Independence Day by making a bouquet of sunflowers and cotton, which became a symbol of the liberation of the occupied territories.

The Ambassador noted that even in the conditions of the war unleashed by Russia, Ukrainians retain a sense of humor and give birth to new symbols of their resistance, and added with sadness that this year the Independence Day of Ukraine is overshadowed by the Russian war.

“But the Ukrainians give a worthy rebuff to the enemy. We are inspired by this and together with our allies we are doing everything possible to help in your fight,” said the British Ambassador..

In particular, she recalled that UK assistance includes weapons, education, sanctions, and humanitarian assistance to bring communities back to life..

“I admire the resilience and courage of Ukrainians. Even in such terrible circumstances, they retain a sense of humor and give birth to new symbols of their resistance..

But the most important thing is the understanding that, while defending its independence, Ukraine defends the main values \u200b\u200bof the free world - freedom and democracy.. That is why the world united for the sake of Ukraine. And we will be with you for as long as it takes to make Independence Day the day of your final victory,” Simmons said..

Congratulations on the 31st Independence Day of Ukraine! Happy 31st Ukraine Independence Day! #Independence Day #IndependenceDay #StandForFreedom #StandWithUkraine #Ukraine31? pic. twitter. com/JzVPrI4Di0.
