On Monday, July 18, Ukraine officially completed the ratification of the Istanbul Convention by submitting the relevant documents to the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Maria Peychinovich Burych announced this on Twitter.

According to the Charter of the Council of Europe, the Convention will enter into force for Ukraine on November 1, 2022.

It should be noted that the ratification of the Istanbul Convention by Ukraine took 11 years after the signing of the document in July 2011.
Finally, on July 18, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the ratification of the Istanbul Convention.
The Delegation of the European Union, the EU Advisory Mission and the Office of the Council of Europe in Ukraine called on the Ukrainian authorities to implement all the provisions of the current legislation, strengthen the system of measures and responses to domestic violence, strengthen capacity building on these issues and stop the negative attitude towards the mentioned issues among the authorities.
