The leaders of the EU countries will approve the recommendation of the European Commission to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership, writes Euractiv, which got acquainted with the draft decision. The same applies to Moldova.

“The European Council has decided to grant candidate country status to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova,” reads the draft decision of the EU leaders who will meet at the summit in Brussels on June 23-24.

The draft states that the decision on further steps to join the EU will be made after Ukraine and Moldova fulfill all the conditions set by them.. At the same time, our state must provide the first report on the assessment of the fulfillment of the conditions by the end of this year..
