The zoning of territories in Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada was discussed even before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, but now, when working on the corresponding bill, the economic conditions of the regions that differ due to the war will be taken into account. This was stated by the first vice-speaker of the parliament Alexander Kornienko.

“The zoning of territories was discussed back in peacetime. Then it was proposed to rely on historical, geographical features - in the mountains one approach, on the sea coast another. Now, because of the war, this is very relevant, but in a different form,” Kornienko said..

He explained that due to the hostilities, different regions of the country found themselves in different conditions, and it is important to take this into account in order to plan further support and development of each area..

“Now we see that three types of territories are being formed in our country: deep rear, front-line zones and war zones, and temporarily occupied territories.. We need to think about such zoning, about different economic models, perhaps different taxation, different incentives,” Kornienko added..

According to the vice speaker, it is possible to create conditions in the deep rear for attracting investors and full-fledged business operation.

“This topic is important, we are discussing it. The main coordinator of the process is the Ministry of Regional Development. In contact with the relevant parliamentary committee and the OP, this bill is being worked out in detail,” Kornienko summed up..
