During his visit to Ukraine, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, assured the Ukrainian authorities that Europe will continue to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and fully support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Igor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of President Andriy Yermak, announced this.

“At the talks, it was, first of all, about further strengthening the sanctions pressure on the aggressor state. We look forward to the rapid approval of the sixth package of sanctions and demand the inclusion of at least an oil sanction in it. Without oil, this package will be empty and unnecessary,” Zhovkva wrote..

According to Deputy Andriy Yermak, Charles Michel assured of the full support of the European Union for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the restoration of our state.

“The 1.5 billion euros allocated for these purposes will be used to purchase only those weapons that are urgently needed today by our military. They also talked a lot about the restoration of our state and economic support. The Trust Fund for Solidarity with Ukraine should become a key instrument,” Zhovkva said..

According to a representative of the Office of the President, a discussion and general definition of the concept of its content is scheduled for May in order to start fruitful work..

“And, of course, the two Presidents coordinated steps towards our strategic goal - EU membership.

As soon as the European Commission presents its Conclusion after processing Ukraine's answers to the questionnaire, it will immediately be considered by the European Council and decide on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country for EU membership. Charles Michel will make every effort to ensure that this decision is approved at the next EU meeting,” Zhovkva concluded..
