Ukraine has turned to the International Committee of the Red Cross for help in urgently organizing humanitarian corridors from Ukrainian cities blocked by the Russian military, the presidential office reports..

Agreements on the corridors were reached during the second round of talks between Ukraine and Russia on March 3.

“Due to the constant shelling carried out by Russian troops, a number of Ukrainian cities and villages are on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe.. Thousands of people need urgent evacuation. In these settlements there is not enough food, water, medicines, there is no light and centralized water supply,” the report says..

Where will the humanitarian corridors be:.

Sumy region: Sumy, Shostka, Romny, Konotop, Akhtyrka;

Chernihiv region: eastern and northern parts of the region;

Kharkiv region: the entire region, except for the southeastern part;

Kyiv region: Bucha, Irpin, Vyshgorod, Ivankov, Vasilkov, Borodyanka;

Mykolaiv region: Bashtanskoe, Snegirevskoe, Bereznegovatskoe directions;

Zaporozhye region: Tokmak, Berdyansk, Velykobelozersk directions;

Kherson region: Chaplynka, Kalanchak, Genicheskoe and Novokakhovskoe directions;

Lugansk and Donetsk regions: Volnovakha, Mariupol districts.

Ukraine has sent all the necessary requests to international organizations to create special corridors for the delivery of the most necessary and the evacuation of the civilian population, said Deputy Prime Minister, member of the Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian and Social Affairs Olga Stefanishyna.

“Unfortunately, before that there was no consent from the Russian side. The agreements following the results of the second round of talks between Ukraine and Russia give us cautious hope that we will finally be able to help our citizens,” she said..

Bringing people to dehydration, exhaustion, suffering from the lack of timely medical care is torture, says Tatyana Lomakina, coordinator of humanitarian corridors from the OPU.

“We very much hope that the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, will do everything possible to start work in humanitarian corridors as soon as possible to save people's lives,” Lomakina notes..

During the eight days of the war, 28 children were killed by the weapons of the Russian occupiers, 64 were injured. About one and a half million children remain under shelling in the territories, among them there are orphans and children with disabilities who need immediate help, adds Daria Gerasimchuk, Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights and Children's Rehabilitation.

The Ukrainian side is ready to ensure the export and delivery of humanitarian cargo. Armed Forces guarantee the safe passage of corridors. Ukraine expects the same from the Russian side.
