A new government coalition in Italy plans to put pressure on Berlin, Paris and the European Commission on the restructuring of Italian debt, which could result in the collapse of the European Union. This writes Contra Magazin. The author of the publication believes that in this way Rome actually declared war on Brussels and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. It is noted that the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development of Italy Luigi Di Mayo from the Five Stars Movement and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini from the League of the North, who are ardent supporters of their country's independence from the European Union, have already prepared a draft budget in which tax cuts and universal income exceeds admissible in the EU budget deficit of 2% of GDP - 2.4 percent. In turn, the Minister of Finance of the Republic Giovanni Tria does not want to coordinate such a draft budget with Brussels. According to the newspaper, he intends to choose a more pro-European version. However, according to the author of the article, Salvini and Di Mayo have serious trumps in their hands: a national debt exceeding 2 trillion euros, about a trillion euros of Target2 debt and a bank system in crisis. This means that politicians will put pressure on European Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker, German Chancellor Merkel and IMF head Christine Lagarde to get the most favorable conditions for debt restructuring, which for the Italian government will be a "breath of fresh air". For this, the budget deficit first exceeded 2%, and then returned to the acceptable level. At the same time, Rome set conditions that Brussels did not like, and all in order to “expose him as a villain” and warm up the desire of Italian citizens to leave the European Union.. Another point of attack, which Salvini calls one of his goals, is generally to update the EU from the inside.. To this end, he teamed up with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who openly opposed French President Emmanuel Macron and Juncker..
If the Hungarian leader is expelled from the European People’s Party (“Orban has not yet attacked so openly,” the author notes), then he will take up arms against Merkel that it is in the interests of the Italian Interior Minister. In this scenario, the newspaper writes, Orban will enter into an alliance with the Euro-skeptic "Alternative for Germany". According to the author of the article, what is currently happening “may be the beginning of the end of the EU, as we know it now”. The EU is in a quandary, which can lead to the collapse of the union and the emergence of new alliances.
