The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Stepan Poltorak was not allowed to take part in the meeting of defense ministers of NATO member countries, which is being held in Brussels on October 3-4. Colonel Sergei Mukosiy, deputy head of Ukraine’s NATO mission on defense issues, said that NATO explained that Hungary objected to the presence of Poltorak, and the Alliance’s principle was that such decisions should be taken unanimously. Budapest sharply spoke out against Kiev because of the law on education adopted by Ukraine. Earlier, the United States announced that they would call upon Hungary not to block the ministerial meeting between Ukraine and NATO because of this.. Mukosy added that Poltorak sent a letter to the Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg with a request to take part in the ministerial meeting, but in response he received a letter explaining why he could not be invited to it.. Mukosiy did not give other details of Stoltenberg’s answer, says “European Truth”. “The main thing is that the letter did not remain unanswered,” the colonel stressed.
