The relevant legislative initiative was approved in the second reading by the State Duma deputies on Wednesday, September 26. Employees will be able to use this opportunity once a year, while retaining their earnings and their place of work is guaranteed. This was particularly insisted by President Vladimir Putin in his address to citizens about the need to improve the pension system of the Russian Federation. "According to the current legislation only employees of certain categories, for example, trade or those whose work is associated with sources of increased danger, must undergo regular medical examinations," explained the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

According to him, the majority of working citizens are deprived of the opportunity to visit medical specialists during working hours. Some take the day off at their own expense, but many simply do not go to scheduled inspections. It is known that it is the early diagnosis of diseases that helps to reduce premature mortality. This is especially true for the elderly. Accepting this bill, the State Duma implements the president's instructions to increase the life expectancy of Russians, said Volodin. The bill was passed unanimously in the second reading.
