Representatives of the Mejlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Volgograd for the first meeting of the Commission for Cooperation with the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The Iranian parliamentarians led by Chairman of the Mejlis Ali Larijani began their visit by visiting the memorial on Mamayev Hill. Together with his Russian counterparts, including the deputy chairman of the State Duma Sergei Neverov and the head of the international affairs committee Leonid Slutsky, they laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in the Pantheon of military glory and the grave of the USSR Marshal Vasily Chuikov. Then they commemorated the participants of the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence. Ali Larijani noted that the brutal Battle of Stalingrad "led to the defeat and failure of the enemies". The corresponding entry he left in the Book of Memory of the Museum Complex.
