Observer of the American edition of The National Interest Doug Bandow is sure that Kiev has no chance to return the Crimea back to the country. The journalist recalled that the peninsula for a long time belonged to Russia and now Moscow will not give it to the Ukrainians. "It was won from Turkey more than two centuries ago and remained Russian within the Soviet Union until 1954," wrote Bandow. At the same time, he noted that the majority of the population of the Crimea are Russians, who always wanted to reunite with their historical homeland. According to the observer, the sanctions of the West will not affect Moscow's decision in any way.

"Today, Kiev has no chance to regain control of the Crimea," added Doug.
