A number of existing laws are to be reviewed by deputies in the course of work on improving the pension system. This was warned by the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. On Friday, August 31, at the Okhotny Ryad met members of an ad hoc working group whose purpose is to prepare a government initiative to improve the pension system for the second reading in the State Duma. According to Volodin, more than 100 amendments to the bill have been submitted to the lower house of parliament. And in the near future is expected a package - from the president. Speaking on Wednesday, August 29, with a televised address to the citizens of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin announced his proposals concerning the age of retirement, benefits for mothers with many children, the concept of "pre-retirement age" and so forth. All this now has to be worked out and integrated into the bill. "We will have to meet more than once in order to try to synchronize the adoption of bills that we have already considered in the first reading, with legislative initiatives that implement the president's proposals," Volodin said.. "The changes will affect not only laws related to the changes in the pension legislation, but also in the Labor, Criminal and Administrative Codes," he stressed.. The decision to set up a working group was taken last week in the course of large public-parliamentary hearings held at the State Duma at the initiative of the speaker.

It included not only deputies but also the Minister of Labor and Social Protection Maxim Topilin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Olga Timofeeva, Heads of Budget and Tax Committees Andrei Makarov, Health Protection Dmitry Morozov, Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov, Deputy Chairman Committee for State Construction and Legislation Alexander Gribov, representatives of trade unions, business circles, public associations. "Our goal is to create such a pension system that it is effective, sustainable and working to improve the welfare of our pensioners," Volodin said, opening the first meeting of the group. Work it will be at least until September 24 - this is the deadline set for amending the government bill to improve the Russian pension system.
