In Austria, criticized the upcoming visit of Vladimir Putin - the Russian president will arrive at the wedding of Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneisl and businessman Wolfgang Mailinger. According to the Austrian political scientist Gerhard Mangott, the invitation to the wedding of Kneisl will harm Vienna, as it will raise suspicion that Austria is a "Trojan horse of Russia in the European Union," notes DW. This visit will show that Putin is not isolated, on the contrary, he will be welcomed with pleasure in one of the countries of the European Union, added the political scientist. The indignation of the Austrian media was also aroused by the fact that taxpayers will pay for ensuring the safety of the president. In the federal state of Styria, several hundred policemen and officers of the special forces "Cobra" will guard the high guest.. The representative of the police department of Styria Franz Grundnih said that the costs will be covered by the Austrian Ministry of the Interior. However, the representative of the Austrian Foreign Ministry explained that for the politician this would be a working visit, and that the Russian side would "pay its own costs on its own". The Foreign Ministry stressed that for Putin it would be a "personal visit to a private celebration, from which the change of Austria's foreign policy position does not follow".

The Austrian deputy of the European Parliament Michel Raymond had already called on Knyesl to resign and added that if she did not do so, Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz should himself offer her resignation to Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen. The wedding that Karin Knysl called up for so many conversations, to which Vladimir Putin is invited, is scheduled for tomorrow, August 18. On the same day, the Russian president is scheduled to hold talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
