List of medicines for rare diseases purchased from the state budget will be expanded. On Thursday, July 26, State Duma deputies adopted in the third, final, reading a bill that amends the program "Seven High-Cost Nosologies" from 2008. Until now, the Ministry of Health has purchased drugs for Russians suffering from hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, pituitary nazmom, Gaucher disease, malignant neoplasms of lymphoid, hematopoietic and related tissues and multiple sclerosis. Providing patients with medicines from 24 more orphaned, that is, rare diseases should be the responsibility of the regions. However, local authorities do not always find this opportunity, because every such patient costs about 100 million rubles a year. In this regard, parliamentarians considered the proposal as a priority and decided to extend the federal program "Seven high-cost nosologies" to hemolytic-uremic syndrome, juvenile arthritis with a systemic onset, and mucopolysaccharidosis I, II and VI types.
This will greatly facilitate the lives of people suffering from these diseases. According to data for October 2017. , in Russia there are 2,069 people, of whom 1556 are children. In general, the law passed by the deputies "will provide vital help to specific people suffering from rare diseases," stressed State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. He guaranteed that the parliament will strictly monitor the situation with the medicinal provision of patients with orphan diseases. The law will enter into force early next year.
