Russia's foreign policy vector needs to be more oriented towards the economy against the backdrop of the growth of protectionism in the world today. This was stated on Thursday, July 19, by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives. According to the head of state, recently the principle of competition and openness is increasingly being replaced in the world trade by "protectionism, economic benefits and expediency - ideological conjuncture and political pressure," and economic relations and freedom of business are politicized. "Against this background, Russia's foreign policy, on the contrary, should become more economically oriented and more rational.

Of particular importance is the formation of a space of good-neighborliness, prosperity, security and stability along the entire perimeter of our state borders, "- set the task for diplomats Putin. His words lead the official website of the leader of the Russian Federation. The President noted that the key integration project for our country is the Eurasian Economic Union.

Putin stressed that the steps Moscow is taking in the foreign policy arena are "not for the sake of some speculative grandeur and not to create problems for others, most importantly to provide the conditions for sustainable development" of Russia. After the presidential elections held on March 18, in which Putin won with a breakaway from his closest rivals, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the head of state would not allow anyone to stand up for the "red lines" of the country's national interests. He stressed that Putin's external political course is "consistent and constructive".
