The "scandal of the international level" is ripening in the Nezalezhnoye because of mass and illegal deforestation and uncontrolled amber mining in the country. This was stated by the hurray-patriot, one of the herald of the Maidan, and now the Verkhovna Rada deputy Borislav Bereza. So painfully he reacted to the relevant report of British experts who presented in the document data on illegal actions in Ukraine. "This is an international scandal. From Ukraine to the EU countries more illegal wood is imported than from any other country in the world, and more than from the countries of Latin America, Africa and South-East Asia put together, "laments from the page in Facebook the parliamentarian. Bereza recalled that now in the Nezalezhnaya moratorium on deforestation, but it does not prevent to export it to the EU countries in spite of not only local legislation, but also the norms adopted in the union. "The Ukrainian forest is cut and exported at such a rate that in four years its exports to the EU countries grew by 75%, exceeding the mark of € 1 billion in 2017," wrote Bereza. In his opinion, the current situation is "not only a sign of systemic corruption, but also a disregard for the ecosystem of Ukraine and for the future of the state". The deputy noted that such unlawful actions can not be performed without an administrative resource and "protection at all levels". "Our data show that hundreds of state companies participate in a systematic, deliberate violation of a wide range of rules in the procurement of forests," - quoted a report from Bereza. He noted that the EU countries account for 70% of Ukrainian timber exports.
