Expenditures of NATO members on defense became the occasion for another angry attack by US President Donald Trump against German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Speaking at a rally in Montana, he said that his patience was running out.
At the alliance summit in Brussels, which will be held July 11-12, he will make a last warning to Europeans - either pay or your security is not guaranteed. He recalled that according to the Charter, NATO members should spend at least 2% of their GDP on collective defense. However, the EU countries are greedy. Even Germany contributes, according to Trump, only about 1%. "I said: Angela, we can no longer guarantee protection, because we spend much more on your defense than you do on ours," says Trump's Breitbart. At the same time, the US president recalled the German Chancellor of the Russian project "Nord Stream-2", which is supported in Berlin.
"You are spending billions of dollars on a deal with Russia on gas and oil, thereby strengthening its security, and we, like complete assholes, are paying for everything else," - indignant Trump. He stressed that the import duties, which he ordered to introduce into a number of European goods, would be a small price for the problems that the US economy suffers from the position of the EU. "They kill our production, selling us their Mercedes and BMW, and then they do not want to pay for NATO either," Trump recalled, pointing out that he intended to achieve justice.
