The Russian currency with the image of the Crimea is declared in the Independent beyond the law. This decision was made by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). As the Ukrainian portal UBR reports with reference to the document of the National Bank of Ukraine, the National Bank has forbidden all financial institutions of the country to accept to account or exchange a new Russian denomination with a face value of 100 rubles, which were issued specifically for the 2018 World Cup. The NBU explained its decision by the fact that this money depicts a map of Russia along with the "annexed" Crimea. Also, the regulator banned a coin worth 3 rubles, dedicated to the cathedral of the city of Simferopol - Holy Trinity Cathedral.

However, the case, apparently, was not limited to officially banned money, as Ukrainians began to complain that the banks stopped accepting and while legal rubles - new bills of 2 thousand rubles. "Recently, the National Bank received complaints from citizens about the refusal of banks / financial institutions to accept banknotes for the exchange of 2000 Russian rubles in nominal value in 2017," the NBU telegram quotes the publication. According to one version, Ukrainian bankers simply decided to be reinsured, since the 2000-ruble banknote appeared with a 200-ruble note, which is adorned with another monument of Sevastopol and Chersonese Tavrichesky.
