The UK decided to use the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) for its own purposes. As a result, the international structure, once one of the most effective in the field of disarmament, is on the verge of schism. This is stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry, published on Thursday, May 31. In particular, the case concerns the "London-inspired case of the Violins". Already both the Western media and representatives of foreign social and political circles are increasingly pointing out the inconsistencies in how London gives a story of poisoning in Salisbury. There is growing awareness of the "true underlying reason for insinuations" around this story: "It is becoming increasingly clear that the United Kingdom deliberately distorts the essence of what happened in Salisbury and is trying to use the OPCW in its geopolitical interests, for which it deliberately leads to deepening the split in the ranks of the Organization," RF MFA.

Earlier this week it became known that the United Kingdom, with the support of Australia, Bulgaria, Germany, Canada, France, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, the United States and Japan, requested the Technical Secretariat of the OPCW to convene a special session of the Conference of States Parties to the CWC. In the action plan, one item: "Support for a global ban on the use of chemical weapons". Given that all the activities of the OPCW are aimed precisely at this, and also relying on insider information, Moscow admitted that London continues to weave intrigues against Russia.
