The State Duma is preparing to consider the law on counter-sentences

Earlier, the Speaker of the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, said that the draft law on counter-sentences would be finalized taking into account all the comments made. In particular, one of the main proposals is to make the norms of the bill universal, and not sectoral ones. "The powers that are transferred to the government and the president should be broader and universal, without touching specific enterprises or specific products," the chairman of the State Duma. According to Volodin, when considering the bill in the first reading, the Chamber will adopt a special resolution determining the further directions of work on the document. In early April, the US sanctions against a number of Russian officials and major businessmen, heads of state corporations, private companies.

In response to the unfriendly actions of Washington, a large group of deputies, faction leaders and the Duma chairman introduced a draft law on the response to sanctions of the United States and other countries to the lower house of parliament. The document entitles the government, on the president's decision, to introduce 16 different responses, including prohibiting or restricting the import of agricultural, alcoholic and tobacco products, medicines from certain countries, prohibiting or restricting the export of rare earth metals from Russia, suspending cooperation on the atom, aircraft building and missile engines. Consideration of the bill in the first reading is scheduled for May 15.
