US President Donald Trump told French President Emmanuel Macron that the United States would withdraw from a nuclear agreement with Iran. Information about this was published in The New York Times - the publication refers to an unnamed source who was present at the conversation of politicians. At the same time, the administration of the French president said that Donald Trump did not inform Emmanuel Macron of the decision on the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program. As the newspaper notes, this step of Trump will put in a difficult situation not only Iran, but also the United States. Literally, all the US allies made certain efforts to persuade the head of state to change their decision, but he was adamant.

The New York Times also recalls that the president's advisors last year twice discouraged him from announcing a break in the nuclear deal with Tehran, but now everything has changed. The new Trump team, which included formerly approved by the Secretary of State, former CIA director Mike Pompeo and national security adviser John R. Bolton, supports the rigid aspirations of the president. Pompeo has already signaled to his European colleagues that Trump will not change his decision on Iran. The issue of the nuclear agreement was also touched upon at the talks of the American president with the French president on April 24 and at a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The politician considers the deal, concluded in the summer of 2015 by his predecessor Barack Obama, completely unacceptable. In turn, reputable experts believe that the revision of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program will provoke growing tension in the Middle East. Concerns Macron and Merkel over the unpredictable situation in the region after the break in the deal is shared by the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. According to the Greek prime minister, this could destabilize the situation in the region, RIA Novosti reports.

. The so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action for the Iranian Nuclear Program - the nuclear agreement signed by the Foreign Ministers of six countries (Russia, China, the United States, Great Britain, Germany and France) and Iran with the participation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, came into force in October 2015 of the year. Tehran agreed to limit nuclear activities in most areas in exchange for the removal of part of anti-Iran sanctions.
