This year, the UK will use a series of international summits to develop a strategy to confront Russian "disinformation" and develop new principles for dialogue with the Kremlin. Such plans arose in the British government because of Moscow's denial of the use of chemical weapons in Britain and Syria, reports The Guardian. The anti-Russian alliance is planned to be put together during the forthcoming meetings of the G7, G20, the European Union and NATO,. Foreign Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson believes that Britain will receive international support for this idea. At the same time, not all in the British political establishment share such radical ideas of confrontation with Russia. Thus, Sir Anthony Brenton, former British Ambassador to Russia, believes that it is necessary to continue dialogue with Moscow in such areas as nuclear disarmament, the fight against Islamic terrorism and cyberwar. He also sharply criticized Johnson, who allowed himself to draw an analogy between the World Cup, which will be held in Russia, and the Olympics of 1936 in fascist Germany. "This is the only comparison that can really enrage the Russians," stressed Brenton. He also described as unseemly the behavior of British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson, who advised Moscow to shut up. According to Brenton, it is necessary to build diplomatic relations with Russia, and not to allow frankly boorish antics towards her.

The relationship between Rossly and Britain worsened after the incident with former GRU officer Sergei Skripal, who worked for the British special services. Skripal and his daughter Julia were poisoned in the English city of Salisbury on March 4. Official London said that Moscow was involved in the incident, Russia rejected these charges. West also states that in Syria, government troops used chemical weapons in the city of the Duma. Russia is accused of calling a fake one this chemushka and supporting President Bashar Assad.
