Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen believes that the EU needs to tighten anti-Russian sanctions, and even better, take such restrictive measures that will not yield to American. "As Moscow is stepping up its subversive activities around the world, European countries should join the US and increase pressure on Vladimir Putin and his inner circle," Rasmussen wrote in The Wall Street Journal. The former NATO head also said that European countries need a united front to oppose the implementation of the Nord Stream project, because Russia will certainly use the gas pipeline to strengthen its geopolitical influence. Rasmussen stressed that now the US sanctions are tougher than the EU, President Trump is leading an anti-Russian campaign, so Europe must fully support the United States in its struggle against Russia, which turned the Old World into "the theater of its international hybrid war".

In order to effectively respond to this "subversive campaign" of Moscow, Brussels needs to introduce tough and effective anti-Russian sanctions, and it's not easy to follow America, the former Secretary General of the Alliance. Meanwhile, Donald Trump revealed what his true attitude towards Russia. In an interview with Fox News, the US president said: "I do not have a secret collusion with Russia. No one was tougher towards Russia than I. You can ask President Putin about this ". Trump stressed that America imposed additional duties on the importation of aluminum from the Russian Federation and reminded that the United States had expelled 60 Russian "so-called diplomats".
