The head of the US Senate Committee on International Affairs, Bob Corker, said that the senators submitted to consideration a new bill that would replace the permission to use military force abroad against terrorists from 2001. The draft provides for restricting the rights of the president, but the Congress is vested with great powers in dealing with the use of force in the fight against terrorism. Voting on amendments and amendments will be held on April 23.

"Over the years, many efforts have been made to update these powers, and although there is still work to be done, I am pleased that we have reached an agreement that will be considered by the committee," wrote Corker in the microblog Twitter. The US Congress passed laws allowing the use of military force abroad in 2001 and 2002, reminds RIA Novosti after the attacks of September 11, 2001 and before the US military operation in Iraq, respectively. Practice is such that US presidents occasionally turn to Congress for permission to use military force abroad, but often do not do this. The new law is designed to streamline this procedure.
