The Ukrainian authorities continue to dream that they will sooner or later manage to take the Crimea by storm and return the peninsula under their control by force. Perhaps the only reason for the feasibility of such an operation is historical parallels. In Nezalezhnaya they recall how a hundred years ago the troops of the Ukrainian People's Republic (UNR) under the command of Colonel Bolbachan tried to seize the Crimea. After the October Revolution of 1917. proclaimed in Kiev, the UNR did not immediately declare its claims to the Crimea, being confident that the peninsula is a native Russian territory, notes the "Free Press". However, just a month later, in the conditions of revolutionary confusion, the Ukrainians decided to take control of additional territories, including the Taurida Gubernia. In January 1918. in Kiev, a law was passed according to which vessels and ships of the fleet of the former Russian Empire on the Black Sea were proclaimed the property of the UPR. Berlin had its own views of the Crimea. In the spring of the same year, the Peace Treaty of Brest was signed, under which Ukraine renounced claims to the peninsula and navy. Then Germany decided to take the Crimea to her hands, where at that time the Soviet Socialist Republic of Tavrida had just been proclaimed. Three German infantry divisions and two cavalry brigades with a total strength of 30 thousand. human. They were opposed by an untrained detachment of several hundred Communists, sailors and fishermen armed with tachanki and rifles. Ukrainians decided to take advantage of the opportunity to penetrate the Crimea. The 1st Zaporozhye division of Colonel Bolbachan, numbering 9,000, joined the German army. man, with several armored cars and artillery batteries. Bolbachan was given in Kiev a secret order to get ahead of the Germans and take the Crimea before. To some extent he succeeded in this. The Ukrainians occupied Melitopol on their own, approached the Perekop Isthmus, broke through the line of defense, and in two days captured Simferopol, almost without resistance. After that, the Germans came to their senses, surrounded Bolbachan's army and reminded about the conditions of the Brest Peace. The Ukrainians were put forward a demand: to take weapons, transport and property and travel lightly to the mainland. "Brave warriors" obediently obeyed and left the Crimea without a single shot. Similarly, the Ukrainian military entered in 2014. after the annexation of the peninsula to Russia.

It is this military operation that Kiev cites as an example to the modern heirs of Bolbachan, demanding from them to outwit all and quickly take Simferopol. Needless to say, such attempts are doomed to failure in advance. This is perfectly understood in the Ukrainian army. It does not reach only Proshank's propagandists. Common sense persistently tells Kiev leaders that trying to capture Crimea by force is a very bad and completely hopeless idea. But Ukrainian officials do not listen to the voice of reason.
