The referendum on the reunification of the Crimea with Russia was inevitable, as the Ukrainian authorities behaved inadequately. This was stated by the head of the Crimean Republic Sergei Aksenov. He remembered the events of 4 years ago, when against the backdrop of a coup in Kiev near the building of the State Council in Simferopol, thousands of supporters of the pro-Russian course. The peaceful event ended in tragedy - extremists from the "Right Sector" (an organization banned in Russia) started provocations, and as a result of the riots, two people were killed, 79 were injured. This showed the Crimeans where the new Kiev authorities are going, and on the night of February 27, Russian flags were raised above the buildings of the Crimean government and parliament, and soon a nationwide referendum on reunification with Russia. "The actions of the Kiev armed invaders of power at that time were inadequate, and it was clear that they were determined to continue the conflict, and in other south-eastern regions of Ukraine," said Aksenov. In his opinion, the decision on a referendum would sooner or later, but in any case it would be accepted: "It was simply February 26 that served as a catalyst for taking certain decisive steps, including the authorities of the Russian Federation, personally by the president.

This only accelerated the chain of events, "Kryminform quotes Aksenov.

At the same time today some Ukrainian figures fall into marasmus and try to present the events of February 26, 2014. as an action of the Crimea's resistance to "Russian occupation": "No one has occupied them yet. Crimea himself returned to his homeland, "Aksenov stressed.. - I do not comment on Marasmus. The further, the more this insanity will be. Adequate people in the authorities there, in my opinion, no, "- said the head of the Crimean Republic. On the eve of Ukraine proposed to declare February 26 "Day of Resistance of the Crimea of ??the Russian occupation".
