Ukrainian authorities could defend the Crimea, but they decided that there was no need. Such a statement was made by the ex-Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anatoly Mogilev on the air of the TV channel "112 Ukraine". It was a detailed interview in the program "Batsman". "At that time, on the 27th, by 10 o'clock in the morning it was already clear that the armed special forces were operating, and not some incomprehensible people ... it was already clear that this armed forces of a foreign state are beginning to get involved in the Crimea - the columns of servicemen already on the 28th began blocking military units, seizing an airfield - it was necessary to put in place the military position. And this inaction of officials who were supposed to make such a decision, led to those sad consequences, "said Mogilev. According to the politician, by the forces of the Ukrainian military, who at that time were stationed on the peninsula, it was possible to keep him. "As an assumption, why they did not make such a decision - the Crimea was considered unnecessary.

Crimea in future elections would not vote for the current government, so it was simply dropped and forgotten about it, than betrayed, first of all, the servicemen who stayed there, "the ex-minister summed up. Recall, the Crimea again became Russian on March 28, 2014 after a referendum in which the vast majority of the peninsula residents voted to join Russia. The choice was made in full accordance with international law and the UN Charter. As the President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated, the issue of Crimea "is closed definitively". However, this does not prevent Kyiv from still counting Crimea as a "temporarily occupied territory".
