Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev signed an order approving an action plan to prevent the occurrence and spread of African swine fever in the Sverdlovsk Region for 2018-2020.
According to the plan, municipalities are obliged to constantly inform the population about the dangers of livestock disease and to organize hotlines for fixing signals about cases of disease and death of pigs, and also to exchange information with responsible services. The Department of Veterinary Medicine of the region will carry out continuous monitoring of blood tests of domestic pigs and wild boars for the presence of the African plague virus, close the entry of transport and cargo from quarantine territories and conduct training seminars for specialists. Specialists of the Department for the Protection, Control and Regulation of the Use of Wildlife in the Sverdlovsk Region should regulate the number of wild boars in the Sverdlovsk forests and organize the feeding of wild animals in volumes sufficient to prevent migration.
In total, the plan of measures to prevent the occurrence and spread of African swine fever in the territory of the Sverdlovsk region for 2018-2020 includes more than forty items. Responsible for their execution are appointed heads of federal, regional and municipal services, ministries and departments, heads of municipalities. Control over the execution of the order is entrusted to the first vice-governor of the Sverdlovsk region Alexei Orlov, the information policy department of the governor.
