The new expansion of anti-Russian sanctions makes unconvincing statements by the US leadership about the desire to establish bilateral relations. So Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov commented on the latest news from Washington.

The new American administration decided to build relations with Moscow on the North Korean plot. As the diplomat noted, the Trump team picked up the course set by Obama for the consistent disintegration of Russian-American relations. For 8 months at the head of the country, she has already taken the fourth unfriendly step: on August 22, the US Ministry of Finance imposed sanctions against 4 citizens of the Russian Federation and one company.

At the same time, statements from Washington continue to sound on how important it is to give bilateral cooperation, to stabilize relations. Moreover, even an outspoken anti-Russian law, recently adopted in the US, some American figures are trying to present as a factor contributing to better mutual understanding between countries.

It's amazing that for all the time Washington did not understand that the language of sanctions in dealing with Moscow is unacceptable. Disagreements can only be resolved through dialogue and in no other way - this is the consistent position of Russia.

And if the United States has not yet realized such obvious truths, they will have to explain them to others that they understand: for this purpose, the Russian Foreign Ministry has already begun to work out the response measures, Ryabkov said.. In this situation, this is inevitable, the diplomat stated with regret, noting that otherwise the US will continue to advance on the same rake.

However, in Russia they do not lose hope that the voice of reason in the US will prevail, stressed in the Foreign Ministry.
