Relations between Russia and Moldova risk once again to slip to a scandal at the diplomatic level. This time, the Moldovan authorities are going to prevent the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin from entering the country. According to the local edition of Deschide, the Moldovan authorities are forced to refuse permission to fly through the airspace of Moldova and to land Russian air force planes at the airports of Chisinau and Tiraspol due to the lack of conditions necessary for this.

Also, the Moldovan side recalled the absence of a mechanism to ensure monitoring of flight activities associated with the use of the airport in Tiraspol, based on the fact that it is located on the territory of the Transnistrian territory that is not controlled by the official Chisinau.

In the letter of the country's Foreign Ministry sent to the Russian delegation, Rogozin's name is not explicitly mentioned, but it is obvious that this is the arrival of a delegation led by the Russian vice-premier. Dmitry Rogozin is the special representative of the Russian president for Transnistria, and co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation with Moldova.

The Russian side was to fly to Moldova at the end of July to participate in events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the signing of an agreement on the principles of the peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in Transnistria and the beginning of a peacekeeping operation on the Dniester.

The Foreign Ministry of Moldova called the holding of such events without an agreed plan "inexpedient". Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Andrei Galbur at a meeting with Russian Ambassador Farit Mukhametshin said that holding memorable events without an agreed plan will not contribute to confidence building.

Sam Dmitry Rogozin, after media reports that Moldova allegedly banned the Russian delegation to come to the country on military aircraft, said that he would arrive necessarily.

I did not understand who forbade me there. I shall necessarily fly. We will meet with both the Moldovan president and the leadership of the PMR, "Rogozin wrote in his Twitter microblog on July 20.

Earlier, Moldovan President Igor Dodon wrote on Facebook that Rogozin could visit the country at the end of July.

This is not the first incident with the emergence of difficulties for Dmitry Rogozin during his visits to Moldova. In May 2014, Ukraine and Romania closed their airspace to prevent the Russian Deputy Prime Minister from flying to celebrate the Victory Day in Tiraspol at the invitation of the leadership of Transnistria.

In June of this year, Moldova unilaterally expelled five Russian diplomats from the country.

Accusing them of espionage and "activities not corresponding to their diplomatic status". What caused a wide resonance in bilateral relations.

Transnistria, 60% of its inhabitants are Russian and Ukrainian, sought to withdraw from Moldova before the collapse of the USSR, fearing that on the wave of nationalism, Moldova will join Romania. In 1992, after the failed attempt by the Moldovan authorities to solve the problem by force, Transnistria became virtually outside the control of Chisinau territory.
