The hunger strike as a sign of political protest is logical only if it is really worth starving for this idea.
In 1981, 10 prisoners in the British prison of the Irish fighters of the IRA went on a hunger strike in protest against the law adopted by Britain restricting the rights of prisoners. Two of the protesters elected deputies of the Parliament of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The authorities did not make concessions and 10 protesters died one after another - the last 26-year-old died after 73 days.
In 2011, the Indian yogi went on a hunger strike to protest against the corrupt decisions of the authorities, which allow barbarian mining of sand and stone in the Ganges River, destroying the ecology. The authorities did not correct the situation. After 73 days, the protester fell into a coma, despite the efforts of doctors died 115 days after the start of the hunger strike.
People go to power to act, to starve logically for those who have no rights or authority to change the situation.
I think that the mayor's office and the deputies have the strength and ability to influence the problem by other means. Life is action, death is inaction. Death is an argument for those who can not protect themselves anymore and can not do anything..
Is it worth it to die because of the ban on garbage disposal?.
