China is ready to join the American operation in Syria for the sake of peace on the Korean Peninsula. So says the political scientist, teacher of Tsinghua University in Beijing (China) Zhang Xiaoqing.

China has considerable military resources and, of course, is interested in the elimination of terrorism. Therefore, Beijing's participation in military operations in Syria is likely a matter of time, believes Zhang Xiaoqing. At the same time, Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping repeatedly said that he considers Bashar Assad to be a legitimate president. So, China will not stand on the side of the opposition. However, an independent operation for him is also unacceptable. Therefore, we will have to choose who to join - to a coalition led by the United States or Russia.

Until recently, the answer was unambiguous - to Russia, the "Free Press" quotes the opinion of the Chinese expert. However, now the situation in the world, and especially in the Asia-Pacific region, has changed. At the same time, Moscow and the EU made it clear that it is not going to interfere directly in the conflict between the two Koreas.

But the United States is directly involved in this conflict. On the peninsula there are many American soldiers. Since Beijing is least interested in armed actions near its borders, it will be forced to cooperate with the US in Syria, Zhang Xiaoqing believes.

It should be remembered that the Middle East in recent years has turned out to be a zone of geopolitical interests of China. In particular, China is one of the largest buyers of oil from Iran, and at the same time actively cooperates with Saudi Arabia.
