The key NATO countries believe that in the foreseeable future, Ukraine can not be considered a potential member of the alliance.

This opinion was expressed in the commentary to the "Observer" by the director of the Institute of Political Analysis and International Studies, Sergei Tolstov.

"The idea of ??Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andrey Parubiy to consolidate the membership of NATO at the legislative level as a priority of the state policy will not give anything. We just declare our desire, but no more than. NATO is not going to accept Ukraine, "Tolstov said..

According to him, the position of the alliance remains the same.

"I do not see from the side of the main NATO countries (the United States, France, Germany and even the United Kingdom) the signals that they have changed their verdict: in the foreseeable future, Ukraine can not be regarded as a member of the alliance," concluded the international.

As reported by the "Observer", Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrei Parubiy stated the need to consolidate the focus on NATO membership at the legislative level.
