Saying that Ukraine has strategic importance for Russia, the Russian Defense Minister made it clear: in the Kremlin Ukraine is viewed as "an important territory in the buffer zone, the possession of which will influence the alignment of forces in Eastern Europe".
This opinion was expressed to the "Observer" by the coordinator of the "Information Resistance" group, People's Deputy of Ukraine ("Popular Front" faction) Dmitry Tymchuk.
Commenting on the words of Sergei Shoigu, who said that Ukraine, Syria and the Korean peninsula are of strategic importance for the Russian Federation, Tymchuk said: "Russians in the name of their interests water the countries that are called strategically important for them".
"In the armed conflict in Syria, Russia is taking a very active part, Ukraine has already annexed part of the territory, an armed conflict is being waged in the Donbass. Here blood is already pouring down. Can you expect something worse than war? The war is already going against Ukraine, the war is in Syria with the participation of Russians. On the Korean Peninsula, there is no war yet, but the degree of tension is overshooting, "he recalled..
According to Tymchuk, Shoigu's message was addressed not to Ukraine or Syria, but to "the West as a whole," as well as NATO. Its meaning is simple:
"Ukraine is in fact an outpost of democracy, Western values, and Russia regards Ukraine as a very important territory in the buffer zone, the possession of which will influence the alignment of forces in Eastern Europe".
"Russia clearly outlined its priorities. It is against the whole civilized world, "the expert is convinced.
As the "Observer" wrote, on May 25, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Russian Armed Forces had received a number of new types of weapons that allow maintaining "strategic parity" with NATO.
