The debate on ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU began in the Senate of the Netherlands.

This is reported by "Ukrinform".

Senators discussed the bill on the implementation of the ratification of the Agreement, which has already been supported by the Lower Chamber of the Parliament of the country.

A significant number of CDA senators, who can give decisive votes for the ratification of the Association Agreement, support the document.

This was stated by Senator CDA Ben Knapen during the debate, writes the Dutch edition of De Telegraaf.

"In our faction, it seems, having considered everything, a significant part of the bill supports," - said Knapen.

The debates are attended by Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Foreign Minister Bert Kunders.

The debate lasted until 17:30 in Kiev and will begin again after the break at 18:40. The debate is expected to be completed at 23:00 local time (00:00 Kyiv time), and the vote is to be held on May 30.

In April 2016, an advisory referendum was held in the Netherlands, at which the majority voted against ratifying the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. In mid-December, EU leaders agreed on the conditions for the completion of ratification by the Netherlands.

The Netherlands is the last EU country that has not completed the ratification of the agreement with Ukraine. In the case of a positive decision, the process will be completely completed.

As reported by the "Observer", March 15 in the Netherlands held parliamentary elections.
