On the eve of the next NATO summit, which will be held on May 25, Ukraine could announce an armed aggression by Russia; This would be an additional argument for the US to increase NATO's military budget, and would also give Ukraine a legitimate right to introduce a peacekeeping contingent.

This opinion was expressed to the "Observer" by the military expert Oleg Zhdanov.

Since, according to his forecasts, at the summit, Russia can be recognized as a country that poses a military threat, "on the crest of this confrontation between the US and Russia, Ukraine could receive very good dividends, at the expense of the US we could solve our problems".

"It would be possible to announce the armed aggression on the part of Russia - right before the NATO summit - after consulting with the United States and having coordinated all the issues," Zhdanov suggested.. Such a statement immediately gives the United States an additional reason for increasing NATO funding.

At the same time, "we include the UN mechanism in relation to the aggressor country - the introduction of sectoral sanctions, the imposition of restrictions on cooperation and so on," the expert added..

Thus, "it was possible to achieve, first, the strengthening of sanctions against Russia, which is already breathing its last in terms of the economy, and secondly, to have the full right to peacekeeping contingent - we would no longer be able to officially refuse".

Speaking about peacekeepers, Zhdanov allowed two possible options. The first option is this: "In order to tease the United States and speed up the provision of assistance from the US, we could turn to the military contingent for Europe. Since the States will never admit this, they would begin to act quickly, as was the case in Yugoslavia. Let me remind you that they pushed the UN troops out of there and introduced NATO there ".

"The second option - we could turn to the US for a military peacekeeping contingent under the flag of the United Nations. We are satisfied with this in any case - put the UN posts on the line of demarcation.
