The meeting of US President Donald Trump with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin confirmed that official Washington will not negotiate with the Russian authorities to the detriment of Ukraine's interests.
Such an opinion on his Facebook page was voiced by the ex-Consul General of Ukraine in Edinburgh and Istanbul, the chairman of the board of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs Foundation Bogdan Yaremenko.
"Photos of Minister Klimkin in the White House - this is important not only for his personal archive. Now it's not even so important how productive and substantive was his meeting with Vice-President Pence and how much protocol it was with President Trump. Now the very fact that this happened is important, "he wrote.
"After all, just as it did not matter whether Trump wanted to sweeten Lavrov, removing the FBI director from his post, or this coincidence, everything looked very unambiguous. It also does not matter what Klimkin and Pens and Trump talked about for a long time, and also in what ingenious ways our ambassador in Washington pierced these meetings, or rather, more importantly, these pictures of Klimkin with Pence and Trump, "added the diplomat.
Yaremenko believes that judging by the absence of announcements of these meetings, everything was very difficult.
"The main thing is that after Lavrov (if he did not understand something) a clear message was sent - our relations with Russia are important, but at the expense of Ukraine we do not agree. Although other issues do not remove this, but this is already quite a lot. More precisely, it is already very much, "he concluded..
