The freelance adviser to the President of Ukraine, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, during a meeting with US Secretary of Defense James Mattis called on Washington to provide Kiev with lethal weapons and ally status.
"We spoke about Russia, which is clear that the US continues to stand firm on the Moscow's aggression in Ukraine and its tireless efforts to destabilize Western institutions, including NATO," Rasmussen wrote in his Facebook following the meeting.
He also stressed the need to increase the role of NATO in the fight against terrorism, the firm US policy towards Russia.
As reported by the "Observer", the US budget for 2017 fiscal year provides $ 560.465 million to support Ukraine.
